Success!
The procedure was completed without complicaitons! The old ESG hardware was removed, and a new pouch was made with new sutures.
Pain
I was warned the pain could be worse this time since the stitches will be placed “full thickness” (how they should be placed), and the previous ESG was most likely placed too shallow (causing the sutures to fail). Well, it was more painful for the first couple hours, but pain meds got it down to a controllable level. Now I am back at the hotel resting, walking, sipping and sleeping.
Procedure & Care
As Dr. McGowan expected, there were not any in tact sutures left. I had no restriction left from my first ESG. But I have noticed this time around that I can’t drink nearly as much fluid as my first procedure. All I can manage is sips. After my first, I was able to drink quite a bit the day of, which is actually a bad thing. It meant I didn’t have much restriction right off the bat. But this time I do! That’s a good sign.
The difference in care I have received here at New You Weight loss continues to be amazing. I have more to come on that when I have time for a more thorough post.
The New Journey Begins!
I’m so glad I made the decision to have Dr. McGowan redo my ESG after getting his second opinion! I believe I will be so much more successful this time around. I’m actually looking forward to my weight loss journey now.
P.S. Please ignore the poor grammar and spelling. I’m still a little out of it from the anesthesia, but I wanted to document the first day of this ESG redo.
