Giving Up
Those that have been following my journey know that this has not been smooth sailing for me. Some of the difficulties and setbacks have had nothing to do with my ESG procedure. However, one of my biggest blows was finding out some of my stitches came out. So… what now?
I’ll be honest, I was ready to throw in the towel and give up on ESG, and just accept it wasn’t going to work for me. But I felt like I was back where I started. Back to not wanting any unchangeable bariatric surgery (which I’m too small for now anyway), but still struggling to get the weight off. I knew I didn’t want to go back to my original ESG doctor (for reasons I won’t get into on this post), but I didn’t want to give up all together. I felt stuck, frustrated and depressed for a while there.
Hope
If it wasn’t for Tesha being so helpful (I honestly don’t know when this girl finds time for sleep), I wouldn’t have even considered an ESG revision of any kind. But she showed me how different it was to have a medical team dedicated to patient care and success. She was so confident and supportive of the idea that I could have a better outcome that it was hard not to believe her myself. She jumped through numerous hoops just to make it feasible for me, and this provided me with some real hope. I will be forever grateful to her for that.
So… A New Beginning!
I am beyond excited to announce that I am having my ESG redone by a different Doctor (Dr. McGowan) at True You Weight Loss in January! This still hasn’t completely sunk in yet, and I’m still in a little disbelief this is happening. However, I am very excited for this chance. Yes, it will mean recovering, and going through all the hard work again. But as my last “Motivation Monday” post points out, it’s all about choosing your hard.
Now I’m in procedure prep mode (once again). It’s a little easier this time around since I know a little more about my likes and dislikes of clear and full liquids. I know what to expect, and I know a lot more about ESG (and Bariatric Surgery) eating plans in general than I did at the time of my first procedure. The nutritional guide from True You is much more thorough than what I received from my first clinic. Plus I will get to actually meet with a Nutritionist before the procedure in January to have all my questions answered (this was not provided at my first clinic). I am currently excited, happy, hopeful and grateful all at the same time.
