Well, this really sucks. I happen to be in the unofficial 5-7% of people who’s stitches fail. The endoscopy showed the top stitches aren’t in tact at all, and the rest have stretched greatly. This isn’t the news I was expecting (or wanted) to hear just 2 months out. My Doctor suggested getting a revision (which means redoing the whole thing), but the thought of going through all of this again only to have it fail a second time is overwhelming. I definitely have lots of questions I need to find the answers to before I decide on a revision. I followed all the rules and never ate until I was “full” so I am concerned my stomach muscles are just too strong to keep stitches in place, which could mean another failure. I haven’t had a lot of time to digest this news. I’m taking a couple days to think things over and hopefully get some more information before I decide anything.
Just a side note, my ESG doctor didn’t blame me, and was very nice about it. Sometimes this just happens. It does make me wonder if the popping I felt back on October 3rd was stitches coming out after all. But there’s no way to know that for certain.
