My procedure is scheduled for 9/11/2019. I could have scheduled it much sooner, but I have to be fully recovered from a different surgery on my neck before undergoing ESG since they go in through the esophagus.
So… I’ve been using this time to prep for the 4 weeks of full-liquids I’ll be doing post-procedure. I steer clear of aspartame (NutraSweet) for my own reasons, but the liquid phase is supposed to be low carb, which has lead to some difficulty in finding liquids I will be able to get down. I’m not a huge fan of the taste of Stevia or Monk Fruit, which complicates things even more. When it comes to sweeteners, I’m just so picky. However, I took advantage of a Whole Foods 25% off supplement sale over the weekend and got a huge container of their natural vanilla Isopure. After spending an eternity lingering and deciding on what to get, the worker there decided I needed help and gave me a little nudge. There’s a whopping 25g of protein per scoop, so I thought even if I hated it, I could somehow get it down in smaller doses, or sneak it in my kids drinks over the next year. Well, low and behold it is much better than I thought! I wish it was less sweet (but I wish all the protein shakes were less sweet), and it does have some monk fruit as a sweetener, but the aftertaste is something I can handle. This will definitely make getting my protein in easier during the liquid phase. Although I’m sure I might retract that on day 25 of drinking it every day.
